Blazer 22

tagged curious as well. they seem expensive for lead round nose in bulk. Compared to cheaper Federal options the price difference between Blazer LRN and Mini-mags or Standard rounds is not that great in the current market.

@ $3.50/50 (for Blazer) they are my go to for plinking. My MKII TR loves them.

phillhut....where do you buy Federal in the GTA? I might have to try a brick or two.

A couple of my rifles shoot better with Blazer than with some other fancier rounds.

It's sold in both loose bulk and in 50 rnd boxes. If you're needing better accuracy for serious rifle use then buy it in the boxes. But for general plinking the loose bulk is just fine.

It's the most reliable cheap HV ammo that I've ever used and it runs all my semi-auto pistols perfectly. I've gone through at least 10,000 rounds and I can't remember a FTF. There may have been few, but really rare. At one time CCI farmed out some of their production to Federal, don't know whether they still do or not. That stuff was very inferior. The packaging was almost identical but the Federal variety had a lighter colour bullet and there was a white cartridge tray instead of a transparent one. If you see any of this don't buy it. I don't know anything about the bulk packs since I only get it in boxes.

Its the only cheap ammo (or round nose) my 1911-22 seems to like. It's more reliable for feeding than cci minimag round nose but not hp

I had no luck with this round. Only had two lot numbers to try, but I've never had more failure to fire in any of my rifles. These were the CCI made 50 round boxes. I had high hopes for it since it was so cheap, $66 for two bricks tax in. Though when it did go off it was accurate. Lol.
Had way better success with Federal champ in the 525 boxes or Winchester Dynapoint.

You don't really get to pick if ammo is good, your gun does.
All guns like one ammo over another. It's part of the fun to find out what it likes.
We just pay attention, look for duds (ammo that don't fire), split cases, inconsistent powder charges.
Having said that, It's pretty goof stuff overall, one heck of a lot better than Winchester white box.

My CZ452 likes the stuff, but other guns..less so. I've probably bought more of it than any other ammo (it's my gopher-smashing choice) but for target shooting...I use better stuff.

I have been getting federal 325 automatch for btw $21 and $24 and federal bulk 525 for btw 32 and 36. They work in all of my guns except the automatch jams up one old revolver. Accuracy is ok with both but more for volume minimags and Std CCI are much more accurate. My preference goes to the 525 pack only because they are copper plated so less lead residue.

I'd buy the blazer 22lr at less than $3.70 per box, as the markup come the USD price from the equivalent Federal Value Pack is higher. Still it's whatever shoots best for you. I tend to hoard the good ammo and shoot the bulk in between.

Sources I have bought federals from include
Tenda
Rangeview
Cabelas
SFRC

Where do you find Blazer for $3.50/50box? My issue is I cant justify $4/50 . Maybe try in my 22lr semi to see if it tightens up it's dishplate sized groups.

I buy the Blazer @ Al Flaherty's. I usually pickup few bricks everytime I stop in.
I have a few bricks of copper washed AE in both 40 and 38 grn but my MKII TR likes 40 grn lead round nose. CCI Standards are even more accurate but I save the stuff for my Shultz&Larson until I find a decently priced higher end ammo for it.

Fed. Automatch are the best in my high standard pistol, but crap in my rifles.

My favourite ammo especially for semi auto, very consistent and rarely ever any feeding issues or duds. of the thousands of rounds fired I could probably count all the fail to fires on one hand. I haven't seen a bulk box of 525 in years, it would have been during the follow up of Sandy Hook when there was so much hoarding going on. The last 3 boxes I got were under $30....
