In a rifle that is, I know that the difference is a revolver wouldn't be so much, but I thought i'd let you know:

I was shooting Federal American Eagle 240gr JHP in my Winchester Trapper 16in. rifle.
I bought some Blazer 240gr JHP, aluminium cased ammo, because the price was right. When I shot them the 1st time, I noticed the recoil was much lighter than the Federal rounds.
Well this afternoon, I brought the Chrony with me, astounding results:

2 rounds of Blazer: 1260-1263 fps
2 rounds of American Eagle: 1741-1742 fps

I searched the Federal web site, and they claim their 240gr is running at 1230fps in a revolver, but 1760fps in a rifle.
I searched the Blazer numbers, and they claim 1200fps in a revolver, no rifle data.
The difference is HUGE in energy, 1260 fps = 845 ft-pds, 1740 fps = 1600 ft-pds, yes, double!

Anyone has tested this also?

THat aluminum stuff is el cheapo maximus.

Use it in a revolver and as soon as your gun is hot, the cases will expand like crazy and you'll be smashing the extraction rod with a hammer to get those cases out.

Spend the extra $5 and buy blazer brass.
