BLC-2 vs BLC

So around 1984 I was living in the West Kooteneys and we used to go to the White Elephant in Spokane to buy reloading stuff. I bought what I thought was a 5 lb keg of BLC-2 I have used at least 2/3rds of this powder. Today while reloading some 308 Win I noticed the label on the container said BLC Military surplus powder, the price was $43.50 for the 5 lbs. I have used BLC-2 data for 308, 35 Whelen and 223. The question I have is there much difference between the 2 powder, in my experience it doesn't seem to be.

Your powder is virtually identical to BLC-2. I have some of that stuff and I use BLC-2 load table information. It is my go to powder for 223 Remington. I like it a lot as it is very consistent.

I also have a keg of BLC-2. I have used it in the 223rem as well. I found that this later lot of powder is slightly faster than BLC so I will have to reduce the load by a grain according to my chronograph. A full grain op powder in a small case can make a significant difference.

Anyway, as soon as the last container of BLC is down to 7-8 pounds I will just mix the two together and not worry about it. It will take me a long time to burn through that much so I will likely see if I can use to my satisfaction in other cartridges I shoot.
