so after a week on the road and lots of photos on the cam my wife and I got out Saturday morning. we moved into a new area south of our old spot into an area just opened up by a logging operation. after an hour and a half of nothing we set up a new bait (beaver) with a cam on it. we went back about 4:30 walked in and sat watching the bait area. I was facing east wile my wife was watching south. about 10 minutes later I look to my right and there is a wolf 15 feet away to the south...... my gun is pointing east....Do'h. By the time my wife saw it, it came up that fast, it was gone. wolf 1 us 0. so sunday morning with the -20, the time change and a week on the road we slept in. about 10:30 we went out for a look see. the bait wasn't touched but we had 37 wolf pics on the cam. after that we went for a walk into an other part of the logged area. where we spooked a big grey wolf but no shot again.
So 4:30 again today we went out, I had been seeing a wolf at this time in the same place 4 times, but the loggers were in working that area so we went to where we saw the one this morning, as we walked in this boy ran out in front of us. my wife took this boy on the run from a standing position at 60-70 feet. it dropped, got up, dropped, got up ran 20 feet and dropped.

Its been a quiet few weeks for our group - lots of encounters with lynx but My72Jeep and his wife have been regularly running into critters without being able to take the shot. They came over last night for us to see the coyote and a couple of celebratory drinks. Gunner410 and his wife come out yesterday with me for coyotes in town, had them barking at us but they didnt show up in the time we had to hunt.

Only a few weeks left in the season and then the long wait till next fall.

Congrats on the yote

Some of the three we called in a week ago:

Well that's it for me now till the fall - one of our most exciting seasons with 3 wolves and 3 coyotes biting the snow and lots of other opportunities. Just got my coyote that I shot in December back from the tanner - he did a nice job. My72Jeep and his wife still at it and are seeing animals so i wish them luck in the last couple of days.

When I get back from working on the deer property will give the .22-250 a good end of season cleaning and look forward to the fall.

thanks to all of you that tagged along and provided comments.

Now need to dig out the turkey shotgun :)
