Blew up my AR today. KABOOM!

Holy cripes! Lot's of KABOOMS on CGN this past week or two. What the heck is going on here?! Glad to hear you're all in one piece. That's frick'n scary I bet! Would a pushed in bullet into the case cause a detonation? Couldn't be a squib load or your bolt wouldn't have cycled for your 4th shot due to lack of gas or your barrel would have ruptured instead of the breach area no?

I'd be quick to blame the norc ammo, i've found a couple of their .308's with pin holes in the neck of the live round. Lucky I found them before they were fired, I check every round from now on.

That's what I was thinking, we all know some of the Norc .223/5.56 had some issues with undersized bullets, makes sense that those undersized bullets may push in to the cartridge easier.

Made in China product + Made in China product + high pressure and burning powder.... and you didn't expect "Kaboom!"?

PS. Have fun with new rifle build.

I had a norinco. There was metal flaking inside the bolt in the firing pin channel causing the firing pin to stick. If this happens and the firing pin sticks out while cycling you can have an out of battery detonation. I sent mine back to north sylva explained the problem, they did not even change the bolt and sent me back the rifle in the same very dangerous condition that yours was in.

Well, if CGN consensus means anything at all (it doesn't, just saying :) ), the problem must be with the OP's grip or stance or his cleaning products or something. It just can't be the Norc products,,,, nnoooo way ! Guys who spout nonsense like "you get what you pay for" are just brand snob suckers with more money than brains. Its common knowledge ;) .

Glad your ok.

To me the only way this can happen is a bore obstruction or a round went off prematurely possibly in the mag or when being cycled. Gases need to be trapped in order for things to go kaboom and blow up.

Yes, but how do we explain all the other non-norinco Kabooms? Counterfeits from Norinco? or are they secretly swapping parts somewhere in the supply chain?
