If I was hunting on foot all day, nowhere near a roadway or quad, I would have internal mag.

Detachable mags are the only way to go! I will NEVER buy a rifle with a floorplate mag. I would hate to miss the buck of a life time or 60 inch plus moose becuase I was fumbling with loose rounds trying to jam them in the top of the rifle one at a time.

I much prefer slamming a mag in, cycling the action, and let er fly.

I hit the really doesn't matter, but I suppose it does.
The only detach mag I have is the last new one I bought.
My Browning T-Bolt.
Shoots like a hot darn.
Thank you Del Selin.
You dun put a smile on my face.............agin...... : )

A couple words come to mind..................butterfingers, stonehands,.......... :D

Hinged floorplate.
Detachable magazine DO get lost, dropped in the deep snow, filled with pocket lint and grit, and several other irritations.
Never lost any animal because I didn't get my blind magazine rifle loaded in time.
Eagleye.

The deciding factor is the quality of the factory detachable mag. Some are cheap, prone to jams and dont do well with dirt in them or wet. Some do ok.

I fill my floorplated mag, push down on the top round, the bolt closes over the top round, and the chamber is empty, but the mag is full. Just pull back and push forward if you see an animal. Why fumble for ammo that isn't even in the gun? I guess in some places it must be illegal to carry a gun with ammo in the magazine, but nothing chambered, even though the safety is on and its has nothing in the pipe???

Well I should have said Internal mag instead of blind mag. What I hate the most about my Tikka M695 is I have to physically remove the mag in order to reload. That means removing the mag laying down the rifle and reloading the mag. It's not unheard of to have to make more than 3 shots while hunting.

Its super easy to dump the shells into your hand, but I love the option of single feeding them through the top. Pretty hard to find a detachable mag that can do that. If it can, then its of staggered design, and a design I find less than reliable with detachable mags.
Straight line feed that makes a det mag so good, prevents reloading other than after removal. I have had literally dozens of each kind, now all my rifles are either blind mag or internal drop plate mags. (or tube feds!!!)

One of the advantages of the detachable magazines used by Sako and Remington is the ability to load them from the top while the magazine is still in the rifle.

FWIW, there were 5 round magazines made for your Model 695. Stoeger Canada might be able to help.

I prefer a single shot, why isn't there an option for that? :p

I have some family down to visit, my Cousin brought a few rifles with so we could go piss around. When we got to where we were going yesterday, he discovered he was the owner of a bolt action single shot since he forgot his detatchable magazine at home.

Detatchable magazines are nice if your in or out of a truck alot, or if your idea of 'hunting' is driving up and down the grid roads with your rear view gun rest at the ready. Chances are you don't bother to remove the magazine anyways unless the RCMP or fishcops stop you. :stirthepot2:

Hinged floorplates work well with only a few exceptions. My Zastava had the floorplate release on the side of the front of the trigger guard. It just felt like a safety, let the wackyness ensue. Blind mags are probably the best, most reliable magazine, but the least conveniant. It's all a matter or personal preferance, but I don't think one is really a whole lot faster then another. The few extra seconds it takes to push a few catridges into an internal magazine as opposed to shaking your detachable magazine out before inserting it into your rifle shouldn't make a whole lot of difference.
