Blinders for IPSC

I am about to start taking part in IPSC. I am getting the equipment, and will sign up for black badge and all the jazz. Just wondering, I am cross eye dominant, are blinders allowed to be used during matches?
I can see it as a safety issue because you are blocking part of an eye, but my blinder only blocks out directly in front, and of course I have my other eye for that, so I don't lose any overall field of view. I am guessing I would lose depth perception when looking forwards.
I've read people put have put tape over their glasses, but mine is a frosted plastic clip on blinder that goes on my glasses.
When I go two eyes wide open (no blinder) it's either no front sight, or the side of the pistol, sometimes with two front posts... When I half shut my dominant eye it works, but I can't do that forever.
So are blinders allowed? Searching brings up nothing on the interwebs, unless it's not called a blinder/blinker.

It's not disallowed so you should be fine with it. The small bit of cellophane tape works very well too. Just go to an art or office supply store and get the removable stuff as it doesn't leave a film on the lens.

I wear safety glasses with a prescription insert. A piece of scotch tape (purple-coloured package) on the left insert works great for me - bend a tiny edge before applying, and it'll come off cleanly - It doesn't completely black-out that eye's field of view, but makes it uniformly foggy. Hard to explain, but with the tape and both eyes open, I still have enough feedback for perfect depth perception, but when I hold my thumb up at arm's length, I only see one!

(When I was a kid playing with cap guns, I asked my Dad about why I was seeing two, and which was the real one. He said "aim between the two guns, and you'll be fine". Might be accurate enough for cap guns, but not real shooting :)

I am also using a non-transparent scotch tape on my glasses. The idea is to blind only part of the glass, so you don't see the sight with your cross dominant eye, but you could still see gun and magazine at reloading position (closer to your body at chin level).

I've been using removable scotch tape on my left lens for years. I place it so it just comes down far enough to obscure my left eye's view of the front sight when I have my pistol in proper position. Don't cover any more of your lens than you have to.

I am also left eye dominant,..right handed. IT should not matter as with proper stance you should be directly behind your pistol. Please get used to shooting without the tape. The postings here are correct though, you CAN use a piece of tape. I will not recommend the PPC type blinds,..way too much junk on your head.

there is an excellent link to Todd Jarrett showing proper stance and grip...google.

my daughter is EXTREMELY left eye'd and right handed.

The neutral/natural stance fixes all your needs.

+1. Practice with a crutch, you will rely on that crutch.

For rifle I use my strong side eye for obvious reasons....but my right eye was weaker for many, many, many years until I had Lasik. My right eye is actually stronger now, but my brain does not want to believe it.:yingyang:

just shoot with your strong eye, theres no rule that says you have to use your strong side eye. I'm right handed left eyed. dont use tape or turn my head, i just hold the gun inline with my left eye

I was doing that without even realizing it long before I knew I was left eye dominant. Some guy on the range asked me "why are you doing that?" to which I anwered "doing what?" Moving the gun is something I do quite naturally - never giving it a 2nd thought.

how's it going POKPOK/Vindaloo? or are you a new "woman" with "her" head up vinny's backside
wasnt worth losing my money from IPSC Canada, I'm an a**hole but I'm not stupid ;)
My head all ready hurt too much from all match BS, didn't really need to hear his self righteous megalomaniac rants as well

Same here, didn't realize I was doing it something weird untill I saw people turning their head or using tape

i don't know jack sh*t about pokpok/windaloo but you're right about being an a-hole. all canadians i've asked agree but i don't get why you're so proud of being one. are you 12 years old or is that just the way you act?

did you have the balls to confront him face to face in greece and tell him what you think, or are you only brave hiding behind a keyboard?

:jerkit:

Did you miss the OVERT THREAT that VP directed to Madness?

Madness did the right thing..........

Meanwhile we need IPSC to do the right thing and take VP to task for penning such a vile email.
