I would be skeptical with gold plating on a "high friction and heat" surface. We shot a buddy's grizzly and that barrel was so hot... Don't think it is feasible on a range gun, maybe on something you want to display.

^^^ It is IMPERATIVE that someone gold plates the ~$170 1911 as soon as possible. Leave the cheezy grips on it though. Rhinestones in the sights would be a nice touch too... or Cubic Zircons...
