Bloop tube??

How did the name "bloop" tube originate?

... Is it because of the different sound when firing?

... Named after Mr. Bloop?

... Anyone know?

Extending the sight radius is the most common reason for a bloop tube. I have seen them used for Fullbore target shooting.
There is also a feeling that a shorter barrel can be very effective for a .22 target rifle, but the resulting sight radius is not. The extension tube solves the problem.
The bloop tube has no effect on velocity.

Pretty sure he was trying to find out if he can legally shoot the 37mm or 40mm thingy that some fell the need to hang under the barrel of their AR.

I have my doubts that anybody cares, as long as there are no explosive rounds going downrange.

Without explosives in them, the rounds seem to me like they would be about as much fun as watching $20 bills burn, and about as cheap, too.

Good thing we all have different tastes, or it'd be a boring place, eh?

Cheers

At one point Anschutz went to a shorter barrel on the 2013 based on the min barrel needed to shoot well and seems to have reversed this decision now. Bloop tube are used even on 30" barrels to allow old eyes to see the front sight better.

Sorry to bring this thread back from the dead lol. So these are legal? Where can you get a Bloop tube for a bull barrel and how much do they usually go for?
