Hey everyone, I recently got my rpal and I have been looking around for a blow back type handgun similar style to a Makarov. Since the Mak and Walther ppk are prohib i am out of luck for getting the gun's of my dreams:mad:. Does anyone else know of a similar type pistol that is restricted? Any input you can give me would be appreciated.

Thanks for the reply so quick, yeah it does seem that the hk p7 is one of the few options i have. It quite a shame I guess ill have to settle on another handgun design.

If you are not bothered by norinco, they have the NP-20 which is a delayed blow back design. Apparently very well made and accurate. Only 230ish at marstar and badger arms too.

I have seen them and I do not mind the look of them, but I wish they had a .380 auto version. So far it looks like ill have to settle for a full sized handgun.

HK P7 is not blowback. It is "gas-delayed blowback". Huge difference.
The very very few HK P7's that were somewhat "straight blowback"
are are no longer in production, a true rarity,
since long in un-accesible collections, extremely expensive.
You will not find one.

Try the Walter PPK in 380 ACP that had
a longer barrel installed to make it restricted.
Make sure the gun was not a 32 ACP converted to 380 ACP,
because you may have bad news (legally) in the following months.

If you have money to burn, you can try a Makarov.
It is an excellent design, simple, built like a tank.
The downside is the ammo availability.
It's almost impossible to reload cheap (9mm Russian is in fact 9.2mm), and
almost impossible to find a pistolsmith in Canada able to
make a quality, guaranteed conversion to 380 ACP.

Again, a rare and expensive gun is
the Steyr GB (gas-delayed blowback),
but that is a large frame, full size pistol.

My choice would be a
PPK with a restricted barrel that came from factory in 380 ACP.
Stay away from 32's converted to 380.

My 2c.

Thanks for the response, I have to agree with you. I am probably going try and find a PPK with a restricted barrel. If I cant find one I might as well join the 1911 cult.

I stand corrected, but I think it's one of the notable safety features since breech isn't to open till pressure is lowered to safe level. Thou, it can be defeted by dirty powder as channels get plugged up with not fully burned powder.

I'm sorry, I did not mean to bring any correction to your post, CeeZer :)
I know that straight - vs. gas-delayed blowback
does not make the subject of this thread.
I only wanted to answer the OP and to give this new guy some ideas
so he knows what to expect.

Also, Miller, remember the rimfire pistols are a blast.

I have to agree with you Lector, rimfire is quite alot of fun. I have been shooting it since I was 16, but I do like centerfire firearms alot more.

I don't know if this fits here but I saw Russian Tokarev T-33's at Lever today for $180. Surplus ammo is on the way for them and should come in at about $200 (ish) per crate of 2000. TWO THOUSAND. Don't quote me.

I'm going to buy a couple for fun. Maybe even a few.
