For those of you who have or have had one. What did/do you think? I either want one of these or a stainless 45/70 guide gun. I have owned several blrs and always liked them. But thought I would ask your opinions before I purchase one. Thanks.

Dave.

there is no question. get the guide gun.

How come?
Dont worry, you'll likely wait a long time for an answer on that one...

PM Hooligan... He had one for a while when it first came out. He'd be able to give you the best info on it IMHO as he is a BLR nut, and got one when they first came out...

I dont think he still has it though...

shouldn't you be out building a tree condo for fall's "hunt" or something ?

The BLR's are famous for wicked recoil, by stock design i'll wager.

they're ugly.
it's made by browning.

Please note .... I'm not a Browning fan nor a BLR fan, but I have fired more than a few in .308 and haven't found them to be all that bad at all. Recoil was reasonable as was accuracy.

If your too sensitive for the "wicked recoil", maybe a 250 Savage would be better suited for you. :D

I shoot lots of large caliber thumpers just fine. recently a 50-140 and enjoyed it ;)

everyone I've met (personally) that have owned one has complained about the greater then average recoil the BLR Dishes out. read about the .450 BLR online and if you find the same articles I was looking at when I was making the same choice as triton, you'll read the same things. my experiences so far.

Blr in 308 certainly does NOT have wicked recoil.

As to the BLR vs Marlin... is buy both an option?

That is always an option. But I don't even have room for one. My lockers are over flowing. LOL! I will likely make my decision based upon the knowledge of all of you guys. It's never steered me wrong yet. It's aided in maxing out some credit cards. But never steered me wrong!

Dave.

I have a BLR in 300 win mag. It has the pistol grip. I do not feel the recoil to be excessive. It has a great recoil pad and seems to ride nice when firing. Now don't get me wrong. I wouldn't sit down and run three boxes of ammo through it in one sitting either. The 308 would be fine if that is what you have your heart set on.
