BLR front sight removal

Hi, I bought a new BLR, and trying to replace the front sight with a fiber optic bead.
I removed the screw from the orginal front sight, but the sight is still stuck on the barrel and won't move a darn bit!

is there a humane way of removing it? what do I need to do?

You need to drift the front sight off the sight ramp with a brass or nylon drift punch(it is dovetailed in place). You'll find another screw under it, but the screws only hold the sight ramp on, not the sight itself....
