Can you use Leupold's quick detach scope mounts with brownings stock sights on a blr? Or are the sights to low?

Just had a peek at my BLR 81.
That rear sight pokes up about a 1/2" above the receiver.
Just about anything on the top of the receiver may
interfere with the rear sight.
Not sure if you can change the sights to make it all work.
I was considering the knock off Weaver bases, but it won't
work for my BLR.
 
I'm going with weaver steel #25 bases and the Leupolds QDR and run 3 scopes for different loads, 200gr, 225gr, 250gr. The fiber optic sights might be higher than standard if they make them, they were higher on my marlin.
 
I have a BLR short action takedown with fiber optic sights.

It has weaver 2 peice bases, Leupold PRW low rings, and a 40 mm scope. Lots of room for the sights.

However, the takedown option doesn't work right now, because the rear sight will hit the scope bell if I slide the barrel out of the action.

To remedy this, I am going to switch to the Leupold QRW rings on the weaver bases. The QRW are basically the same as the PRW, except they have a quick release wingnut.

I might also remove the sights, I haven't decided yet.
 
Removing the rear site,can be a ##### to get that srew out.Use the best driver you have, to start!This is speaking from experience,a bad one at that.

Removed my rear sight as well. Somewhat of a useless appendage in my opinion anyways. You don't want that scope sitting way, way up there, the stock drops nicely for a low sitting scope. Way up, and watch your eyebrow if your scopes eye relief is short and you crawl the stock when prone firing, or quick shots at a big running brusier.

Low sitting, low power( I like 4X32WA) fixed, quality glass, scope.;)


Whitetail Beware,........this combo will be hazardous to your health. Did I mention .308Win as well?:)
 
I have the lightweight take down. With the leupold bases you can barely see the top of the irons. I would say these bases render your irons useless.

I had Leupold qd on my 30-06 custom drilled etc-cost a fortune and like an idiot sold it about 5 years ago. NOw have BLR in 450Marlin with Warne QD, they are very nice and seem to work well-seem to be a bit more robust than the Leupold. Wil l be using these in the future.
 
I have the Weaver bases on my BLR 308 takedown and the irons work with no problem. I put a quick release rings with a standard 3-9x scope (since I have to get the scope off to take down) and it keeps zero OK.
I was thinking on getting a smaller scope so the rear sight will be able to slide under it for a takedown - anyone with a working setup like this?
 
I have 2 takedown models in 358 win one is stainless the other is blued .The stainless wears a scout scope and my blued just traditional set-up .To this date I have not loss zero on the traditional one when taken down for cleaning I love both guns .I tend to be careful with the traditional one when shooting quickly as scope crawl can happen. I use weaver base on my blued gun with a weaver 2.5 x 8 x32 and my scout has a 2.5x8x28 weaver and have no clearance issues

Took mine off too because it was actually in the way of the scope configuration I wanted. Bought a new screw from Brownells for a few bucks to have on hand if I ever go back to open sights. :)
 
Why not put on a 1-4 style scope and not worry about the front sight at all? I never use it on my BLR, but the gun looks better with it on,

Looks are very important :)
