I have owned two BLR's and I have been thinking about a BAR for years and watching the prices. My observations are that a very good condition BLR is going to run $700 and a very good condition BAR is going to run $850.
The BAR hands down if it is accurate. The BLR otherwise.
My reasons...BAR is handy, semi, higher initial value and long term ROI. The BLR can be finicky with the gears, trigger is heavier, accuracy is good the light weight is light for a lever gun. I own a BAR Shortrac and have had two BLRs to shoot and change sights/optics/sight in over the last month.

Pretty much spot on, though on CGN BAR prices are even high it seems these days. The BAR seems to hold resale value better. I think the BAR is more universal, or at least has a larger appeal. BLR users maybe more 'attached' to their model of choice, but there seems to be more BAR users.
Had both in 308, the BLR killed many moose, the BAR failed me on one moose and was never used again. Both have since been sold, however my nod goes to the BLR if you must have one or the other.
I own 2 BARs and 4 BLRs the BARs are new this year so I havent much bad to say about them except they are heavy to carry
BLRs especially in the light weight category are great to carry and I had a DRT with the 325wsm this year
I have been warned away from buying used BARs by some one who's theory was they usually only come up for sale when the present owner is having problems with them
My newest gun is a Browning Short Trac Hog Stalker it only comes in 308, it has a 5 shot clip, pistol grip and a composite camo stock
