Blr..............

I just bought a Limbsaver grind to fit and put it on a 30-30 for my 10 year old.

It's really soft and works great. Had to cut an inch off the stock to keep the length right.

Ground it with a big belt sander.

I bought a Kickeez for Thing2's Stevens 200 and for some reason it fit the older BLR.
Won't fit werd a chit on this newer one.
Both were/are the flat mag series.

Pretty sure Dellysun has one that may fit, but lawng way frum'ear.

Nawt gonnah dew the grind to fit nor the slip awn chit.
Hard awn the timber, they izz.
 
I have a limbsaver on a 8.5 pound 460 weatherby and it makes the rifle pretty friggen easy going. I havent tried without it on there but i believe its making a massive difference.

Anything is going to be better than the awwkey puck awnn'er.
Crappy position at our range and each hit hert more'in the one before.
Hence the reason I purchased the Hawkeye.
Huge difference in recoil.
I ended up with an egg plant shoulder.
Add some rotator cuff pain and yeah, I'm a fruck'in wimp.

Awww well, the qwest be mine.

Bench shooting a hunting rifle is a compromise. From the bench/sitting position I am bent forward and crawling up the stock, so an inch longer LOP fits me nicely for bench shooting, but then it's too long for hunting conditions. So I use a slip-on recoil pad for bench shooting a hunting rifle that has some recoil.

The slip-on pad lengthens the LOP to a more comfortable length, moves the scope out to a safer distance and softens the recoil noticeably. So for bench shooting and load development etc., I use the slip-on recoil pad. I carry two different sizes of Pachmayr Decelerator slip-ons in my range bag.

Unless it’s a takedown, it’s not going to happen. Gun needs to be disassembled to fit in the lathe. BLR are a nightmare to put back together. 3 - 4 hrs to put back together.

Maybe I need to consider this train of thought.
I do have a new one sitting here somewhere.
Short range work shouldn't hert the stock finish on a one or two range visit.
 
Another vote for the LimbSaver pad,they are the best at reducing felt recoil.
A good smith can install the grind to fit and not damage the stock finish, if that is your concern.
Have one on my straight grip pre-81 in 358. Works great. Although I am shooting a modest load with the 220 gr Speer HC's.
Has handled elk, moose and grizzly bear just fine.
 
My wife has a very short lop. So, like you, not wanting to ruin the original stock, I hunted around and found another stock to cut, saving the original to restore the rifle should she ever wish to sell it.
She did eventually sell it, and we sent along the short stock with it.
You could do that, saving your original, and having your thick pad.

Found one that did fit nicely.

My 'favorite' lever gun/calibre combo is the Winchester model 71 in 348WCF. With interest developing in the BLR, I did a ;) little google search on it. Surprised!! I never realised how many calibres it was available in. ;) Starting to feel the need :).
