Have some sundays off this fall and a buddy from kamloops and I are interested in doing some upland hunting in the area, in particular, Blue Grouse.

anyone know any good spots? Starting points? he is a total rookie to the area (just moved there from Sask) and keen to get back into the hunting thing, would like to help him get hooked again. not afraid of a long walk.

thanks!

^^ Agreed, there's always plenty of ditch chickens in and around Merritt. Plenty of nice roads to the South east of Merritt heading towards Princeton, Places Like Pothole creek, Kentucky lake. Sorry it's not closer the Kamloops but still worth the drive down the Coq.

Colin, we get the odd Blue, but there's usually lots of ruffies up my way. It's looking like it should be a decent year for grouse, too.

if you're around my area Sept 16/17, you know where to look me up. I'd be happy to take you guys out.

Get high if you want blues. Some good country between Savona and Cahe Creek. Go in from Savona and then west or go up Dead Man creek and then west.

I get Blues up my way, but I have to be over 3500 feet normally.

Good Luck.

Ken

Oh man, you gave him the location of the honey hole, the PIN on your Debit card, and the key to the chasity belt of your daughter with that post!!

Truth be known, it is an awsome spot for big bucks as well. Opps, did I say that? ;)

I'll second that.......I got a few Blues Last year, also very high.
There are Not too many Blues around the immediate Kamloops area, more can be found abit further North and mostly at higher elevations as mentioned ;)

Deer don't interest me all that much, so your bucks are safe, if I'm down there hunting it will be for chickens ;)

ken, I have been diving @ pavilion lake ever other weekend for the last couple months. wasn;t going to dive there again this year but if there are blue's around I might have to go back :D

Warren, thats the weekend before my training starts, so will be staying put :p but maybe farther into the season.....

thanks for the tips,

no helicopter rides for you when I'm done then!

of course your daughter is more then welcome to ride shotgun :D

I know some nice remote waterfalls we can land at and have a picnic :D

Well then maybe I'll go to Nigera after all - at least if I need a quick dust-off I can call you.

...and if my daughter rides shotgun, I'll make sure she knows to have it pointed at you at all times. :D
