The one my buddy has makes the blood stand out abit. He`s used it when there was no snow on the ground and was able to track a blood trail a mile back in the bush. I think it was a Gerber.
I've got an E2D, an 870 weapon light, a couple G2's and a Surefire 'frankenlight' that started out as a 9P, then got the high output bulb, shock proof bezel and clicky tailcap.
I'm currently in the market for my first LED Surefire and have settled on the new E1L Outdoorsman with the Cree emitter. 30 lumens for 10 hours and small enough to clip to a hat-band as a field expedient headlight. It's white LED only but you can add blue or red filters.
I have no experience with blood trailing, so I can't say if that would be the best choice.
Well, I bit the bullet this morning and ordered the Kromo and 2 dozen lithium batteries. That way if it works I'm set for years, and if it doesn't I can feel like a gullible dork for an equal length of time. I minimized the risk by talking my long suffering wife into buying it for me.
Something that might be an advantage is the light weight for flying. When allowed only 2 pieces of luggage at 50 pounds each and one of those is a guncase, a 3 D cell maglight and spare batteries starts to get heavy. That one bag already has to hold the legal limit of 11 pounds of ammo.
