Blue Line BL-15 receiver issue or my fault?

Hi all,

finally got around to trying to assemble my Blue Line lower and a High Standard ar-15 lower parts kit. All was going well until I got to the safety switch. As you can see in the attached pic, there is no way in hell that it is going thru that hole as that is part of the trigger body blocking the way. It seems to me that the trigger can only go where the pin allows it to be. This is my first AR build, so did I screw something up, or is this one of the issues they were having with their receivers a few months ago (this is the timeframe during which I purchased it). I also have the problem with the takedown pin needing to be trimmed to fit flush with the receiver. Any help is greatly appreciated

Sounds like you. The takedown pin doesn't fit flush, it protrudes a bit. The easiest way for you to get it assembled is go to youtube, it is easier to watch than to explain

Yep, take the hammer pin and hammer out, then take the trigger pin out. Put the safety in over top (trigger should be able to move forward enough), re-install the trigger pin, and re-install the hammer & pin.

Just got it in the slightly wrong order :)

I've assembled a number of stripped recievers and some require that you put the fire selecter/safety in before the trigger assembly:
the Blue line lower is one that requires you to put the fire selector/safety in first. This I know because I've just completed two of them
earlier this week.
Cheers, Tony Bruce

After you install the safety, make sure not to pull the trigger and let the hammer slam back into place. You can cause some damage if you don't ease the hammer back into place with one hand/finger while pulling the trigger with the other.

Make sure to test function the trigger assembly to ensure everything is in good working order.

Good tip, it will slam against the receiver if you don't help it out of cocked position.

Thanks for the help guys, but I am still having problems. I took out the hammer assembly, and the trigger pin. Now loose, I was able to install the selector, it's detent and grip. It clicked back and forth freely. When the trigger pin and all trigger components are installed the selector will not budge. When trigger pin is installed thru one side of the receiver, and all trigger components but not the far side of the receiver, the selector will work. I'm stumped and more than a little frustrated...

My lower is similar to yours, the holes must be off as the safety is a very tight fit. The only way I can get the safety in is with the trigger pin removed and it is still very tight to get it in. Any tighter and my safety would not work, it barely moves after the trigger has been pulled. One of many problems with my bargain bin Blue-line lower.

AR's require that the hammer be cocked before the selector will move, if the hammer isn't cocked, the selector will be locked.

In case you misunderstood what I meant… usually the selector has a little bit of play when the hammer is dropped, mine has no play, because without the hammer cocked the trigger tail basically touches the selector.

To elaborate, my LMT and Noveske lowers let me pull the selector out with out removing the rest of the FCG. My Blue-line does not; in fact as stated already I have to put the safety in with the trigger loose in the receiver. It is extremely awkward to do, if it was any tighter it would not work.

what is your serial # range, some of them were just machined wrong, and people had to return them

Thanks again guys for all your responses. I've tried everything, and have come to the conclusion that this receiver is indeed machined wrong. Serial # range is A0015*. I've contacted Blueline and will see what they say/do. Here's what I tried:
1) selector only installed with detent, spring and grip installed worked just fine. (done just to rule out selector/detent issue)
2) Trigger assembly and hammer assembly (no selector installed) worked just, function checked out good too. (done just to check function)
3) However, I CANNOT install the trigger assembly pin with the selector installed, it is ever so slightly cockeyed and it the rear of the trigger assembly bears so much against the selector that it cannot be "rotated to allow pin to pass through.
I've basically tried every which way to make this work, to no avail. Thanks again for all your advice/tips

I returned a BlueLine lower that was machined wrong. Mine was the safety detent spring hole, the center was machined until the spring hole was paper thin. My other lower does not seem to have this problem. I bought a Dlask lower and the two are not comparable in quality, the Dlask is much higher quality and the finish is superior. I also paid more for the Dlask but I thought BlueLine put out a quality product at a discounted price, not a cut rate product at full pop! Mental note for the future......
