How long does it take Loctite to set?

I applied some to the screws on the wings my mechanical duck decoy three hours ago and it is still runny.

It is blue loctite and I've had the tube for a year or two.

Should I have squished the tube a bit to mix it up before using it?

I should set up in a few minutes. It may be time to purchase a new bottle!!!!
I always shake the crap out of mine, I believe the stuff will separate over time??

Sounds like you need to give the tube a good mixing. Let as much of the air out as possible, put the cap back on and give the tube a good kneading. I've noticed that if a tube is left to sit for an extended time, some very thin/liquid blue juice with come out, most likely useless. Mix it up!

You should probably see a doctor for that...

Come on... Someone had to say it!

I think freezing will cause it to seperate in the tubes as well.

Lock tite is anaerobic, which means it dries when there is no oxogen present. ( I beleave thats what its called) It will most likely be dry on the threads.

Actually it's not, it will dry outside of the threads.

You are correct as to the meaning of anerobic.

I find it's good practice to shake it up before you use it. I have a 50ml bottle of it, so due to perceived settling, you really have to shake the $h/+ out of it. I've had it for a few years, even out in the garage in minus 20c and colder, it still works fine.

I agree! I keep mine outside too and have never noticed any ill effects. It'll settle when not used for a while.

It does take a while for it to set up - I just found the following on the pematex website:

Cure speed vs. temperature
The rate of cure will depend on the ambient temperature. Full cure is attainable in 24 hours at room temperature, 22°C (72°F), or 1 hour at 93°C (200°F).

See the rest of the instructions here (remove space between w ww):

And yes, it will set up outside the threads as well.

Happy threadlocking...
