
So what do these two pictures have in common?
The one on the left is a British idea for a NUCLEAR LANDMINE! Yup you heard that correctly. The plan was to bury this MF'er underground before giving up an area to the Soviets during the cold war. After a period of 8 days the NUCLEAR LANDMINE would go off.
So what does this have to with the other picture... the one with the chicken? Well the problem is when you bury something, especially during the winter, it can get cold. The British were worried that if the landmine got too cold, it wouldn't go off. One of the plans was to put a group of live chickens inside the landmine with just enough water, food, and oxygen to sustain them for a week. Their body heat would be enough to keep the interior of the device warm for those 7 days until it could be detonated.
