Blued CZ Shadow 2

the Arcor surface finish that Česká zbrojovka started using on its polymer pistols, the CZ P-07 and CZ P-09. This surface treatment is basically a ferritic salt bath nitriding process and the compound layer provides outstanding resistance to wear and corrosion. Arcor’s properties also reduce friction and stress and contribute to better operation and function of the whole weapon.

Compared to the melonite, how would you say this stacks up in terms of durability and other ways of evaluating a finish? I know some guys consider melonite to be the #### of the walk, does this hold a candle to it?

I watched Jakub smash two 2's together and try to scratch one with a knife at IWA, the finish on the black guns is amazing, although the slides on the grays is the same finish.

I have the urban grey model. While it's very durable, I can't get it clean after only 100 rounds of winchester white box. Doesn't seem to scratch but always looks dirty if you're shooting a lot. Irritating ...

You can't remove the residue from 100 rounds? That's a bit odd.. What are you using to clean it?

You are saying the frame's urban grey color is the arcor finish? Or are you talking about the slide? I'm trying to find out what surface the urban grey is. Kind of looks like a cerakote or poly coat.

Yep, it does get dirty. At the front by the muzzle. Really easy to clean though. A moist patch with CLP cleans it right off.

Agree, dirty near the muzzle but wipes right off with some clp, love the taupe color, definitely not real grey.

it is distinctly possible that the black guns coming next week are not nitrided frames. Please wait and see what we get. Just a heads up.

Over top of the nitride I should add.

Any insight on what went wrong with the Nitride finish to the point where they had to cover it with polycoat? I suppose this is what caused the major delay with the all black. Apparently a few dealers are getting some all black sometime in November (Don't quote me on this, just what I was told) but I'm hoping they have the Nitride finish.

BTW Slavex, thanks for all the info you've provided on the Shadow 2s! Much appreciated

I'm guessing the nitride finish is problematic on the cast frames. That's about as good as I can say.
