I've come to the conclusion that the parkerizing on my 98 isn't the best. It seems that it scratches very easily. I'm just wondering if I can blue it or not. I don't know much about metallurgy. Are the Norinco's made of the right sort of metal to undergo the blueing process?

Hi. Any regular steel(not SS) can be blued. The parkerizing will have to come off first. Then the steel will require polishing. The quality of any bluing job depends on the quality of the polishing.
If you're thinking cold bluing, don't. It's very difficult to get an even finish and cold bluing isn't made to blue whole firearms. It's for touching up scratches.

you gun is not parkeised unless you had it done aftermarket.
Its cheap black oxy, cheapest finish you can get for steel.
Its what Mfg put on nuts and bolt to stop them from rusting while sitting.
Its a very very weak finish.
Their are some good Black oxy coating that are used but the china products dont use them.
Any finish but what you have would be good.

Contact "Murdoch" he is a dealer on here and does Armacoating.
He will bead blast your gun and armacoat it for you for a very reasonable price. This is probably the only way I would go if I was you. Cheap, and very durable, and turn around time is good from what I hear.

That would be Murdoc, no h on the end. +1 on his prices being reasonable and the Armacoat is super tough.

If I didn't go with armacoat, I would have Tac Ord park it (I love parkerizing) or park, then teflon it.
