Blueing or coating options for a pistol barrel.

Hi all,For Christmas I picked up a G19 from Questar, and rather than wait for a blued Lone Wolf barrel, I elected to get the stainless barrel now. For strictly aesthetic reasons, if I wanted to have the barrel coated or blued, what do folks suggest? Is cerakoting the barrel an option, or would that interfere with function? I'm leaning toward blueing, assuming the cost isn't too high. On a related note, I'm also curious if IGB barrels are still available? I believe Sporteque carried them at one point, and I still see those listed on their website, but not in stock. Is there anyone else that brings those in?Thanks,

Nothing is wrong with it, but I know at some point I may want the barrel to match the gun, so knowing what is the best treatment for that is makes good sense to me.

Thanks for the info, particularly Dsiwy's point about the camming. Is Nitron the same as the Nitride finish Arma-coat can do?

Whatever finish you choose it will wear off quickly with use wherever the barrel rubs against the slide. You could hire a Group of Seven artist and you couldn't make a Glock pretty. Just saying.

Take Care

You can cerakote your windshield, but that does not mean you should :p

In my profession opinion no cam or bearing surfaces should be cerakoted.

I usually don't like it when someone goes out and says you are completely wrong. So I will say that you are perhaps completely misinformed. There have been thousands of pistol barrels Cerakoted with outstanding results. Cam or bearing surfaces are one area where Cerakote works very well. Glock barrels are included in the many thousand pistol barrels that have been Cerakoted.

Cerakote has been proven to be the number one firearms finish on the market today with independent lab testing in all areas of concern. Nearly every major firearms manufacturer in the world knows this an this is the reason why they use it on their lines of coloured guns. You won't see them using Armacoat, Durakote, of KG Guncoat.

Cerakote is the number one finish for any part of your gun INCLUDING the barrel of your Glock. There is no other finish on the market that will outperform Cerakote in lab testing or real world use. This is a fact, not an opinion. Go to the Cerakote site in the States and review all the independent lab tests. You can even get it in pink if you like, or a hundred other colours. Anyone saying different is not giving you the best advice based on facts or science. Period.
