Bluing Salts?

Ontario preferred but anywhere is fine.
Seems like Brownells won't ship across the border.

Cold bluing solution is potassium hydroxide, I don't know if it's the same as the hot bluing stuff.

I guess only issue is finding some. looks like maybe the sodium Hydroxide can be found....not shipped though.
the Potassium seems harder. Some are saying banned in Canada.

The lye can be bought at home hardware.
I believe I read you can buy the potassium nitrate from certain garden centers, but they only sell it mixed in with water - so take your clean water in a known volume and ask for your certain weight added.

I believe guntech suggested the addition of sodium nitrite, that one I'm not sure where to get or what it does.

It is sounding like hitting JP's rust blue is a better, cheaper and less time consuming that gluing salts.

Brownell's Oxpho Blue while not giving a bright "Remington blue" will give a far longer lasting "vintage patina" to old rifles than anything on the market PROVIDING one takes the time/patience to properly apply it ...
