Blunderbuss

Two sources in the USA for kits are Track of the Wolf and Pecatonica River Long Rifle Supply. Virtually the same kit and no issues with importing to Canada from the Homeland Security or CBS on our side. I believe they are 70 or 75 cal so no issue with the 20 mm BS.... (that means Bore Size of course!) Check their websites. A buddy of mine has built one of these kits.

loyalist arms just got a shipment in. They have dog locks, French and British. Brass barrels, Absolute beauties. The brass barrels are made to shoot and hold up. They are machined out of some specific alloy or something like that. Either way its good.

Loyalist arms for me hands down is the best military replica muzzle loader source around. I have bought quite a bit from them over the years. I live near by and the temptation is too great sometimes.

Wouldn't a blunderbuss qualify as a shotgun, not a rifle for the 20mm purpose?

Man, the more I think about that OIC the more I think the people who made it are really stupid.

blunderbuss kits are available from Pecatonica River Long Rifle Supply in Illinois and also, I think, from Track of the Wolf in Minnesota. No impost restrictions on them

it does not matter if it is a shotgun or not; the issue is if the bore is over 20 mm for any kind of firearm. The real issue is where is the bore diameter measured and hopefully the more recent definition seemed to imply the bore diameter forward of the chamber and before the muzzle. I don't think Trudeau and Blair were stupid, I think they deliberately wanted to ban as many guns as possible without appearing to do so. If you think back to bill C 68, the government said they were banning "Saturday Night Specials" because they were cheap and inaccurate. People did not worry because it seemed to ban cheap junk guns but when the written law came out, lo and behold it covered 58% of all handguns. While I hope that the government can be embarrassed into some degree of common sense, that seems unlikely in that neither Trudeau nor Blair are answering any questions on the subject

There are a few businesses in the US offering blunderbuss kits. A search turned up the option of 12ga and 4ga barrels. The 4ga (1") version is a big gun; the 12ga much handier. The Petatonica kit has a fairly long barrel with a relatively modest muzzle flair.
At americanlongrifles.org, there have been threads detailing blunderbuss projects. The resulting guns are every bit as well made and stylish as the best English pieces.
A complete kit with pieces suitable for making an authentically styled, quality piece is likely going to be north of a thousand dollars.
