I recently got a bnz.41 Russian Capture from a fellow CGNer.
It had the usual red shellac mismatched stock and a Gew 98 straight bolt.
I put a refurbed East German bent bolt in it and ordered a Steyr stock from Holland off a Norwegian surrendered K98.
It's still an RC but looks much better, I think.
I got a WaA77 trigger unit for it.
Still looking for a WaA77 ot 623 trigger guard and floorplate.
Noticed in the pics I got the sling band upside down, gotta change that.
I really like all the Steyr stampings in the barrel and action and the action below the wood in plastered with Radom toolroom glyph's.

It looks really good! Although I tend to subscribe to the idea that an RC should retain its "RC-ness"

Having spent some time on other K98 forums, that argument seems to go on forever and ever, Amen.
To me ones like this are worth making more "correct" for want of a better word.
The rifles with ground and peened markings and heavy Russian "blue", not so much.
Thanks for the compliments.

Nice work Mike!! I did the same to my bnz41. All markings were intact and no "x" on mine so well worth it to make it more correct. I have a spare WaA77 trigger guard and plate serial number 9878 and your rifle is 9851 that I got from Tommy (us1945..ebay), that was used in a Norwegian surrendered k98. I will message you.

Great job! All the better to restore one to as close as you can to its former glory!!!

I'm on the fence on the subjects as well - some I like to keep as RC's but I am just as guilty at making some look nicer!!!
