the only way to ensure absolute compliance with any kind of rules for Production would be for each IPSC Region to buy and maintain a stock of each type of handgun available. Then provide those to people at each match. We could all own our own guns to practice with, but would use supplied guns and ammo at the match.
How'd you like those apples eh?

Back to the original question............

I personally believe that the Bomar sights should not be allowed, but the rules are very vague in that regard. They do change the sight radius, which is not in the spirit of the ruling. In the same breath, they also don't give much of an advantage to a good shooter. I will be able to tell you better after I get a few thousand rounds through my G35 and see if I can be faster or more accurate than the G22. So far, not. I just bought it to play, and maybe go to the US with it for Production.

There are all kinds of aftermarket sights available to Glocks (including adjustable) that you don't have to do mods to the slide, and don't hang off the back like a big booger either. They just sit up a little higher. Never slowed me up too much.

In the end, it comes down to the best shooter with a reliable gun anyway. If Sevigney can shoot like he does with an "almost stock" Glock, then there is no real advantage to the other crap. My Glock is stock except for the extended mag release and the sights. COMPLETELY stock. Including factory springs. It can be a competitive gun that way.

Like Omen says, you can take a Norinco and kick ass with the right shooter. I have shot one, and I think I could win a match or two with it......if it kept working. Ha Ha.

Well then you've contradicted your earlier post....:p

The IDPA rules as posted allow for more after market Mods than the current IPSC rules...

Yeah, you are right, but based on things said in this post a completely stock division or competition would be too hard to police. That is not to say that I no longer like the idea, because I do, but it just may not be practical and the IDPA rules seem alot better than the current IPSC Production rules.

Either way as I stated earlier my Production gun will remain stock and I will rely on skills and practice.

Not specifically responding to 40cal, but commenting on this statement as it has been said a million times on this forum by so many including me while trying to convince people to come to our sport.

No participant on this website is that right shooter. (Actually, with the exception of Burrell and Imrie; no Canadian is.)

Us mere mortals without the name Sevigny, Jarret, McLaren, Grauffel, Tyc, Leatham, etc. can and will get a boost in results from certain gun improvements.

I'll be the first to admit that I shoot a good, custom gun better than I shoot a cheap, basic gun. My CZ-USA sights & hammer on my CZ-75 made a hell of a difference.

Nobody, in any division, shot 80%+ at the last nationals and didn't have a modified or top of the line gun... you can't buy a win - but you can definitely get some help and they knew it.

Tying this back to the topic, the good sights on the glock will make a difference but others can get that advantage too, so no big deal.
