Not really a bucket list of things to do or harvest, but have been curious for a while.
What works best, recording or hand squeaks for calling?
Anyone have any sightings they care to share ?
Thanks for any info.

Well the obvious thing is Lower mainland?, with what a crossbow. The no shooting regs, and restrictions pushes one out to beyond Chilliwack and Mission. Even that would be permission from land owners. I have some friends, one a large landowner in Ft Langley, another from South Langley....the people from Ft Langley i asked about Deer, and their response was too many Coyotes so no Deer; the people from South Langley returned from shopping, put down their dog...which was taken by a Coyote less than 10 ft from them. Had a appointment at UBC hospital some years ago, Coyote walked right past us not 100 yards from the McDonalds. That campus has as many people as some interior towns. Bobcat would not be common like that, and unlikely to be that blatant. Finding places to hunt, in closer cover, near watercourses, and in a area that allowed firearms, would be extremely limiting.

Even if one was somehow able to predator hunt, you would either be swatted by RCMP or become the target of protest. I do not even bother in Region 2, my predator hunting is Region 3.

I lived in region 2 for a few years...dont bother trying to predator hunt down there not worth the bs and all the no hunting no shooting zones. Go to region 3 and beyond for a decent hunt

I haven't seen any bobcat, but have been face to face with cougar, in 2-8.
If you can run fast, we won't need dogs :).

I see new tracks almost weekly.

Pm me for more info, if it's something you'd like to pursue. It's just outside the lowermainland, some might consider within, but definitely legal hunting.

I cant offer any advice here Rob on bobcats and though it has never happened to me personally I have a friend back home in Ontario who runs a very successful Wolf hunt outfitting business and he has had several clients take Lynx coming in to a regular hand held mouth blown predator call. He's good at sounding like a snowshoe hare in distress on his call.

nowarningshot, I guess my brain wasnt in ''Hunting Mode'' and single projectile firearms when I typed this out earlier today.
When I suggested Lowermainland, I guess I assumed beyond West Vancouver towards Squirmish and East of Langley towards the Wack and/or North of the Fraser River.

I do follow the Fraser Valley map and conversant with those regs, but Thanks for the input ... I will have to do more research and leg work soon :) and Thanks for the input from the other guys as well.

I know there was/is a Bobcat at the Burnaby Golf Club, there is a you tube video out there I have seen, just not recently.

So, that leads me to believe they are close by either the North side of the Fraser or the South side and some more searching is needed.

Thanks Again to those who replied.

Rob

I have seen them near hope in an area I`m pretty sure is open to hunting, might be a bit too much of a drive if you are in Vancouver though.

Slightly off topic but my neighbour was sure they spotted a bobcat up north of Hwy 16 the other day. Seems pretty high for that species??? Anybody else seen them up this way. Lots of Lynx in this part of BC.

Thanks Guys, have some pretty good leads right now.
Thank You for those who sent me a PM, will be looking at a few maps and of course Google Earth for the locations mentioned .
Now to check the Hunting Regs closely for those areas as well.
Also if anyone has had success feel free to post pictures and or recipes too.
Tight Groups,
Rob
