Bobcat in my tree

I was about 20 yards from a Bobcat two November's ago outside of Pemberton. I was walking down the middle of a small powerline cut, and it crossed right infront of me.

Honestly kinda scared me. Not the whole seeing it part, that was exciting, but the whole part of having to walk straight over its tracks otw back towards the truck. I was all bundled up for the cold so my peripheral vision wasn't great with a hood up, and every step i took across the snow made lots of noise. That bobcat could have snuck up on me and I wouldn't have noticed. Very unnerving to be alone in the woods with a big cat you can't see or hear...

Please forgive my ignorance, but would a Bobcat attack a human? I mean, we're not talking about a Cougar here... Far from, actually.

Think we can categorically state, there have been no human fatalities from Lynx or bobcat attacks. :)

Nice pictures, thanks for posting them.... About 3 years ago I was deer hunting from a stand in the southern Georgian Bay area and just after daylight I got a 15 second look at one that was going along an old fence row, there one moment and then crossed over and disappeared from sight.
About 2 weeks ago there was a program on TV one night about an animal rescue place down east [Nova Scotia I think] that had 5 young ones brought in during a very severe winter. All of them were near death from starvation due to the scarcity of food and their lack of hunting skills. At the end of the program they had to get them all into cages and return them to the area of capture. A very interesting part of the program. They wouldn't attack an adult human but they are pretty vicious little rascals when cornered and about to be caged. Gorgeous animals.

I believe you...but you have to explain that to the Bobcat :)...I can understand the posters 'curiosity/concern' under the circumstances....I had a very nasty Fisher with an attitude problem 'false charge' me and I took a few steps back quickly (despite the 375h&h in my hands)...the nasty little aggressive prick! They dont seem to understand their status in the pecking order!!!! :)

All members of the weasel family seem to have that issue...
They punch way above their weight class

My son's family live in NW Calgary just south of Nose Hill Park. Heavy snowfall this past winter (2018) in Calgary so my son built an igloo in the back yard for his two kids to play in. My 9 yr. old grandson was crawling out of the igloo when he discovered a Bobcat was sitting outside the igloo staring in. He yelled at it and it took off (fortunately!!). There are quite a few snowshoe hares in the neighbourhood so that may have attracted the Bobcat into the area. I had previously shown him the Bobcat photos from this thread so he knew what he was looking at. There have been other Bobcat sightings in the area as well.
