What can you tell me about this firearm?
Suitable for a new shooter?
The barrel is only 3.5 inches long . . . is that Prohibited?
The RCMP did not call back.

There is a version with a long enough barrel to be restricted.
Suitable for a new shooter? There are a lot of better choices.

For its size it's very controllable and accurate. The 7.5 lb DOA trigger was surprising easy to manipulate and shoot accurately.

The one that has come to Canada has a 4.2 barrel so it is only restricted. Wanstalls has them.

Because the smaller XR9 has the prohib length barrel it cannot be imported into Canada.

The grip frame is quite short for those of us with bigger hands. The one I held had no where for my pinky to rest since the magazine was not in the gun. With the magazine my pinky would only be partly resting on the edge and I'd have needed to lift it away to allow the gun to drop the mag. So the size is both a plus and a minus.

The other downside is that the ammo capacity puts the gun at a disadvantage if you use it in any of the competitions against other guns with 10+1 capacity. More reloads means higher stage times.

So for a FIRST gun I'd suggest that it's not an ideal choice.

It is not standard configuration pistol, we can almost say that it is a "Bullpup pistol". Usually the chamber is positioned above the trigger. In the Boberg's case, the chamber is way back, above the pistol grip, allowing defined barrel lenght in a shorter package. It uses a uncommon claw system to extract the round from the magazine and push it up in the chamber, wich can be confusing and harder to use for a beginner.

As a first gun i would recommend something more common.
