Wanstalls here in Maple Ridge just finally got in some Canadianized versions with the "Pinnochio" nose. Cool little gun. And the main word is LITTLE! But at only 7+1 rounds it would be a toy since it holds far too few rounds to use effectively for any of my match type shooting.
I trust my life on my Jericho 941 this will be a purchase simply of its unique design and also the size, not often we get these up hereYou might take a look at the Boberg website where there's all the information about the gun, althought underestandably biased. Also, on YouTube there are a few independent reviews, very mixed in nature. There were "teething problems" as it was introduced, but according to Wanstalls, those are all taken care of. For the diehard 1911 user, the Boberg must seem like one of Col. Cooper's "answers to a question nobody asked". I collect certain handguns, and I have one on order for the collection because of its unique chambering system, not seen since the turn of the 20th century Gabbett-Fairfax Mars pistol made for a short while by Webley. The Boberg uses a very similar chambering system, but is much better engineered. For a few different reasons, I would not consider the gun for actual defensive purposes. Certainly in its "short" form it's the smallest 9mm pistol with the longest barrel, but it's finicky about ammunition and mechanically somewhat fragile. I'm not sure that it's got enough going for it to let it be made after a few more years, and in any case the "short" version -- which is the clearly most interesting variation -- isn't obtainable in Canada.
Wait so it has the barrel sticking out.
you both are right...
-there is a XR9 S with the super compact body, and the Canadian legal barrel poking out the end (as with any cdn legal glock 26,27 etc), and
-there is the XR9 L that has the body that houses the full barrel length... (longer sight radius as well.... mo better! IMO)
I have pawed at the one they had at the store (Wanstalls) and it's definitely a nicely crafted lil gun... I am personally struggling with the $2100(+) price tag ( platinum with night sights) to have the bragging rights and get the "what the heck is THAT" when at the range...
Has anyone actually shot one of these more recent releases(2013 manufacture date)? -have ALL the issues been ironed out? does it function without failures?
I see people on here all the time saying they have a hard time with the price but the thing people have to realize is these are EXTREMELY well built pistols and you do get what you pay for. People have no problem paying that kind of cash for a Sig, Smith & Wesson, or a Kimber, because of the name, not the quality.
I was so impressed with the gun i put my money down and bought on as soon as they came into the country.
All I have to say is abboberg you have designed one beautiful pistol, and i can't wait to see what you come up with next.

Couldn't agree more. I've had mine to the range twice and am more than happy with it. As for fit & finish, it makes my Ruger GP100 look like a homebuilt. Your right about paying for the name and not the quality on some guns, but that's not the case with this one.
Yes the Boberg is expensive but after using mine for a few weeks, I got the bang for the buck that I was expecting. Glad I got one.......
I got my XR9-L in this morning. Just got back from putting a box of shells through it...............not even a hiccup. It worked flawless.
You just have to love this little gun, I can hardly wait to get the S model.
Took 1 week to get this one so if all goes well should be next week.
Thanks Wanstall for bring these guns into the country

I don't know about bias - I have not deleted any posts or reviews on our forum. I want people to express their opinions, even if they are unfavorable to our products - that forces us to improve them and address any issues immediately. As far as Colonel Cooper - he would have disapproved of our 9mm pistols because they are "crunchentickers". However, if he were still alive, and could experience our upcoming .45 Auto (initial offering in the Shorty - sorry Canada), which will be the world's most powerful pocket pistol, period, I don't think he would question the answer.
