Boberg XR9

It seems like a cool gun, but guys, can you please explain to me the obsession with the small handguns in the country where you cannot carry it? Not to offend anyone, I am just trying to understand. If you just practice at the range, would not full size pistol give you a better results?. I can only see it as a collection item, but then again, I do not collect firearms.

The barrel isn't that much shorter. It's comparable in barrel length to a 1911 Commander or a SIG P226 (4.25").

Doesn't look like it would be hard to design in a low profile 1911 style thumb safety. But as already said - this is intended as a small pocket/pouch concealed carry or backup gun so DAO is probably fine.

Would be interesting to see in .45 ACP :)

Every new gun in the country is a victory. The whole 'prohibited' handgun thing was a simple and deliberate plan to ban and ultimately confiscate most handguns in the country. They knew that 4 inch was the average barrel length, so guess what? Make the 'legal' length longer. People like small guns because they can still shoot well, and are a definate FU2 message to the Libs.

Exactly. 4" is probably the single most popular barrel length out there, especially for revolvers. 4.14" is a very odd length to set as the legal limit...have they even explained exactly why they chose that number?

Well, if buying this pistol is a form of political statement, I can understand that. However, if I was free to choose any handgun I wanted, I would probably go with a longer barrel, unless I was planning to carry it.

When I contacted boberg several months ago they seemed very excited about being legal for the Canadian market.

When they become available I will certainly pursue it further. Hopefully they will be available through a common exporter.

K.O.

If this gun doesn't qualify as a major win in Canada, I don't know what would.

I mean, you cant tell me that the bottom one doesnt look like the cats pajamas? And as far as reliability goes, it cant be worse than some of the other stuff out there. That being said, it can always be made to be reliable.

I know some of you will say, "if your spending mucho grande, it should be perfect". fact is, nothing is perfect. And this is the only way we (canadians) are going to a get 4.2 inch pistol sny smaller than what we already have. You have to at least give props to the company for trying it, and including canada buy making it a 4.2 and not a 4.0 of the same design. I am willing to give it a go.

when I first saw the pic I thought it was pretty ugly...but it's growing on me a little....if under a $1000 I'd think about but there probbly other guns I'd rather get...

Boberg's goal is to keep the US price under $1000, if they managed it the price would still be $1200-1400 up here easily.
