Boberg XR9

based on what? Their track record for reliability? Their ability to conceal well for carry?

TDC

Based on the fact that I've owned pretty well every model Sig and Glock allowed in Canada.

I've got nothing against either brand, but when someone makes a NEW gun that CAN BE imported into Canada, I'm all over it.

The selection of handguns we have to pick from sucks up here compared to the States. Why do you want it to suck even worse?

So you're basing value on availability? If that's the case, then to each their own. I base value on the quality of the item in question. No pistol is worth $1200 USD(high for Canada no doubt) simply because its available. Again, if you aren't carrying it, then the benefits of the pistol are lost.

I'll have to agree. I'm excited about this too but if it isn't an excellent pistol with excellent reliability I'm not going to pay $1400 for it. Sure, the novelty factor might allow me to justify a few hundred more than normal, but that's it.

I agree, however if people took the same attitude as you are regarding this issue, we would never have imported the G19 or Sig 229 and the smallest handgun Canadians could own would be either the Ruger 345 @ 107mm, or Commander sized 1911's - not the smallest of gun.

Hey, If I had the money I'd start importing a bunch of the small guns that don't have existing aftermarket 107mm length barrels. The Kel-Tec comes to mind, but there are many, many others.

I contacted Boberg in St Paul regarding this gun coming to Canada. I got an e-mail from Arne Boberg, they are looking for a distrubutor. They had thought of importing themselves but being new company they could not come up with the resources. They are still looking for distributor.

I have to have one of these guns.

TDC will you quit with the cold hard reality sh*t, next you'll tell me I have no chance of nailing Heidi Klum, sheesh

---

The power of the internet... I did some "reaserch" <cough - images - cough> of Heidi Klum. I noticed she's married to Seal. I did a quick Wiki and discovered the following:

"Seal proposed to Klum on Christmas Eve 2004 at 7,000 feet altitude, in an igloo he had built on a glacier in Whistler, British Columbia[14]."

Lucky bastard!

I've been in recent correspondence with Boberg. As with all smaller manufacturers, it is not financially feasible to do all the export stuff in-house. However, we may be able to work something out using other exporters. Don't expect any updates on this soon, but I will continue to follow these guns.

Good man

If they work and can come into Canada, I'll buy one. However I'll wait a year or two before buying, let the US guys on their forums discover any problems. I won't make a mistake like buying an early SIG mosquito again!

diggin this up i want one or two...

was told there price point will be $850 USD so probably around 1100-1400 up here i would think

We now have our Firearms Manufacturer's License and have gotten definition as to when our frame becomes a receiver. We are actively building inventory of parts and still have some production fixtures that need to be built.

They are currently building the XR9S (shorty). No clue as to when the Canada-legal one will be made.

As for the pistol. I don't see it taking off or being overly successful. I could be wrong. If I am, I'll gladly eat humble pie.

I'm looking up a recipe for that just in case we succeed. It may even have blackbirds in it.:)

Hey, if some folks enjoy being the guinea pig for another "Rhineland Arms" product feel free.

I always like to learn from the mistakes of others, especially stories of why companies fail and what caused it. But this "Rhineland Arms" reference is confusing. I only found one rifle/carbine stock conversion company and one .22 rifle manufacturer with this name. It is not clear whether they are the same company, but they both seem to be up and running and the .22 rifle company has gotten some good reviews. A little more background material on "Rhineland Arms" and why they were mentioned would be very helpful.
