Bobtailed 1911 grips?

Long story short... put some money down on a 1911CS E Series (all black) and was wondering if anybody has a good line on bobtailed grips?

Or is it just easier to buy regular grips and sand down the corner?

Ive googled over the past few days and have found a few "custom" shops that will do up grips to customers request, but just curious if there is a good place to check?

Not really looking for anything specific, just browsing at this point as I do like the grips that come from factory (Manufacturers photos), but at the same time don't want to destroy them either.

FYI. This is my first venture into the 1911 world as well so not sure what size (width) grips Id be looking for either.

I've got a set of Bobtail grips off of a Nighthawk Talon kicking around, cocobolo I think. I'll send you some pics if you like.

Other than that, I love VZ grips, and Hoque makes nice ones too. Both ship no problem to Canada in any of their variations.

VCD grips has a bobtail model if you want heavy texture. Also VZ grips do bobtails on any of their styles as noted above.

i just contoured and sanded mine, look like factory if done carefully

VZ is definitely the way to go. Check out their website. They have an astounding array of styles and colours.

Every time I get a new 1911 I put a set of VZs on it. I always go for standard thickness...thin grips to me make the trip too thin.

Yeah I got fairly big hand and mostly owned double stacked, so I think I'd need standards at the least.

Never owned a 1911 and only handled one before... just always wanted one.
