:bangHead:if its a controlled item why can i buy it from more then one site sponsor just on this forum not to mention other internet sites? i still see no proof!d:h:

It's a $25,000 a day fine. It's up to them if they want to risk it. I know I don't and Controlled Goods and DFAIT were very clear about this topic.

I'll be more than happy to give the phone number of the person I was speaking to anyone who wants it but I will not post the number on here. You are more than welcome to PM me for it. If you do decide to call don't freak out and yell at them, be polite and ask your questions.

Ever caught a ricochet on the range?
I watched a buddy catch a 7.62x39 ricochet in the forehead up Sylvester road in the 90's,he shot the bottom of a swiss cheese looking oxygen tank, like that used in oxy acetylene cutting and welding..at maybe 30 ft..apparently the steel is quite thick at the bottom..broke the skin and gave him a welt..we packed up and left about then..he'd had enough for the day..

I have seen store which (manufactures and) sells prohibited weapon, yet not firearms, and openly don't care about it ...

its not a law until it has been written down and signed off ond:h:. but seeing as i just threw all my level 3 and 4 stuff out. like KeNdO said "Nothing to see here. Carry on."

I hope you didn't toss it out. The issue isn't with owning it, the issue is with selling it.

The regulations don't limit ownership, they limit the sale of it. If you read everything I think there is an exemption for individuals to own it for personal use. You just can't buy it from a business/individual in Canada without belonging to the controlled goods program. Send me a PM and I'd be more than happy to send you the phone # of the person.

I think he was kidding. Word has it that a lot of U.S. gun owners are accidentally losing their "to be banned" assault rifles in, um, boating accidents. Entire collections of them!

It doesn't have to be a law guys - this is more of that government by regulation we see so much of in the firearms world. Like why can I not buy a restricted in BC without a long term ATT - it's not in the law that I can't, but I can't because the person with the fancy job title says so. Same deal here.

So if this is just some buffoons regulation, can we not start to lobby the government to have this changed? We should start asking our MPs why they are banning us from owning an important safety item for hunters and target shooters etc

Not that I'd ever discourage anyone from buying something just for the sake of it, and I do think people should have the right, but why do so many people want body amour? When I was in the militia, I hated wearing my flak jacket. Serious question.

I have been hit with multiple ricochets at the indoor range. Once in the face ... hard.

Level 3A soft armour is all I will be getting to prevent something from getting at my chest. I would only wear it at the indoor range. Not to repell armed intruders at night hahaha

Where does this leave us with regard to purchasing equipment that is not specifically rated under the NIJ system?
Would I be right in surmising that IIIA vests would have or could be made to have pockets for the insertion of plates?
Is it the purchase of SAPI or ESAPI (or equivalent, I've read those are US Military only) plates controlled?

Are we able to purchase something like an IOTV (or similar) without plates (which would be equivalent to a IIIA) and also - separately - purchase plates?
What about making ones own plates?

One could then have a piece(s) of IIIa armor, and render it to a III or IV system as/when needed/allowed.

Thoughts?

Sh1t, I hope my new Level IIIA Robovest that I bought from Zahal doesn't get seized by the CBSA. I ordered the trauma plates separately, so I'm crossing my fingers as to what I actually get delivered. I thought that only Level IV, which can stop armor piercing rounds weren't allowed.

I too am a bit confused by these posts since all other dealers I have spoken to that sell this stuff have indicated that these can be sold to anyone with a PAL or appropriate provincial license, regardless of the lvl rating. In fact, one even asked me where I had heard that these might be controlled goods and I stated I read it on an online forum. The immediate response was, "oh, let me guess... CGN." I say yes and they just shake their head and tell me they have no idea why these rumors are floating around. This was followed by me asking why they thought it was a case of "rumours" to which the reply was that they had spoken with several government agencies about this and it was flat out debunked. This particular dealer supplies several government / law enforcement organizations so I do not think they would willingly mislead on the issue.

This said, I'm not questioning anyone's integrity, just really confused by the disparate stories I am getting from various dealers (iirc, this is the only thread making this claim). I really do not know who to believe and I find that problematic. It would be nice to get the answers in writing from the people making the rules rather than via email/phone/third party accounts. Does anyone have an official written resource to share?

I'm just passing on what we were told.

Give them a call, they will tell you the same thing and ref you to the legislation it is based on.
