I have had these souvenirs for about 15 years and I thought that some of you would appreciate seeing them. They were brought back, ca 1900, by an officer serving with the Lord Strathcona's Horse in the Boer War. From the top: 2 Ashanti spears, one without point; 3 Zulu assegei (s) and a Zulu knob-kerrie.

I bought them off a buddy of mine who purchased them with the fellows medals from the family. My friend is only interested in medals and awards of gallantry. I couldn't imagine selling my Dad's or Grampa's medals. I guess we each have our own priorities.

Here's the knife. The sheath has some wear through the bottom and he fixed it with some green tin and some kaki cloth. I removed the cloth strip around the bottom. It's still pretty sharp. It was made in Shefield England by Joseph Rogers & Sons, Cutlers To Their Majesties No.6 Norfolk Street Shefield, also says S.W. Silver & Co Cornhill London

I have some stuff my great-great grandpapy made while he was a Prisoner o war in St. Helena.
Very detailed carvings of the Transvaals emblem

During the Boer war they called were the LSH, the "d" and the "(RC)" was added later, I beleive when they were reformed in '09, so your abbreviation was correct for the time of the Boer war.

There is a fellow I know who's grandfather was with the "Hollander Korps" (Hollanders who fought for us) He was given a Mauser shell the old man brought back from the war, and lost it!!! I would give my front teeth and my left testical (only works half the time) for a Boere- oorlog mauser Shell!

my great aunt has an old british 12 pounder shell and uses it for a doorstop. she did not want to give it to me! I believe it had the british mark on it(like an arrow). Also, my great uncle has a metford from the war with the ORIGINAL BANDOLIERS and the rifle is still in its ORIGINAL box. Gawd id kill for that.
