Bolt 22LR under $500??

Ok, so I finally found a VERY NICE GUY from range today, who was shooting an Anschutz.

Oh my gosh!

I was surprised how accurate that Model 64 was!
100 Meters and still driving tact like nothing.
The guy's name was Paul, didn't ask for a last name. (Thank you, if you read this)

It had on there a 6x scope. Not sure if anything was modified.
Trigger was pretty light. Around 2 lbs? maybe even lighter, I was barely fanning the trigger and it went off.

If anyone is selling their Anschutz Model 64. Please give me a shout.

I know you're not a rimfire guy but surely you remember the little Zytel rifle? And lots of Marlins, Savages, Remintons go for $400 or less. Lots of fine rifles there although you can't beat an Anchutz. I believe they had to put 10 shots in one hole or they didn't leave the factory. Anyone know the exact requirements? Big fan of the Brnos (now Cz) also.

I'm super happy with my Savage MkII. I get really good groupings with it and I love the Accutrigger. After playing around with different types of ammo, I find mine loves the Federal stuff. CCI's weren't too bad and the Winchesters and Remingtons were shyte.

My boyfriend, on the other hand, has the CZ452. He loves his rifle as much as I love mine. We've shot them side-by-side at the range and there's not a whole lot of difference between the two of them in terms of close groupings. The Federal ammo also kicks ass in his. Nicer stock on the CZ but I really like the feel of the Accutrigger.

When we had Gophers/Ground hogs in Ontario you would be hard pressed to kill one with a 22lr, they weighed in 2lbs or more.

Calling what we have in Ontario gophers is incorrect...they are groundhogs. I definitely had a different picture in my mind when all the people out West were talking about all these gophers over-running the fields as we tend to use the name interchangeably in Ontario. Hundreds of these bad boys in a farmers field...there wouldn't be much room left for field.

All it takes is actually shooting a decent rifle and suddenly the cheapo rifles don't cut it anymore. :sniper:

I probably shoot more rimfire annually than anything else. And yes I have shot an Nylon66 rifle. But things have changed since we were kids. We have much better quality rifles available to us these days. High end target rifles may be more expensive but they offer a much higher level of performance in return.

I've been into .22 target shooting for a long while... it sort of started when I was in Air Cadets.
so can't really say that I've converted lol
Though it is FUN!

Hey Tactical Lever, sorry, I've spent a little too much on my 10/22 and it is very accurate for its' grade. So that'll be my semi-auto fun while I'm gathering money for the Anschutz Model 64 or 1907.

Just saw the CZ 452, any comments on that rifle?
 
Actually I was referring to the round count the premier Nylon went to. I believe it was just over 75 000 rounds and had 0.05% stoppages? That sound right? Maybe threw out results of squib loads? Tom Frye used three to break the old record for wooden blocks consecutively shot in mid-air. 100 000 and change with 6 misfires or something. Not too shabby for a cheap rifle. I don't know about the accuracy after but it's gonna see a pretty astronomical number before being "shot out" although for serious target shooters, maybe it'll see a fractional difference that will make a difference in competition. In agreement with buying quality once, I've got a sporter weight Anschutz that's phenomenal but who knows how many thousand rounds it's seen. That being said I'd be a little underwhelmed by a "name brand" that was junk after only 20 or 30 bricks.
By the way C9-Gunner; P+D has a beautiful adult size Remington for sale, for $550. I eyed it up a little and think it really splits the difference nicely between light weight and target.

It's hard to beat that kind of workmanship for the money. The old Brno I had was pretty special, but I haven't owned any of the new Cz rifles yet. From what I hear they're still very high quality and are finished really well. Thanks for the reply.

FYI there is one for 520 bucks shipped on the EE.

CZ has an almost cult like following. Go to Rimfirecentral.com http://www.rimfirecentral.com/forums/index.php

At any one time, more members view the CZ and 10/22 sub forums than the other makes like Savage, Marlin, Annies, etc.

For the CZ, I think it is popular because of its affordable price, fine design, fit and finish, and performance equal to or better than, most if not all makes of mass produced sporters and many more expensive ones. Some bull barrel Savages may match or even exceed the CZ's accuracy but many shooters like the feel of CZ.

Annies are a different animal specially the 64, they are match grade and priced accordingly. However, I had an Annie 1416 some 18 years ago with double set trigger that shot well, but I don't remember it being more accurate than my CZ452 Varmint or Style or even my Savage MKIIF. Of course, I only fired bulk ammo because I am too cheap to buy match ammo.
