Bolt action 22 choice, Rem or CZ

I have both. I will be getting a Lilja barrel for the 504. If Eagleye said it's so then go with him. I also have a 541-T and will be looking forward to something better out of the 504 - it sure looks purty though. The 452 improved with the trigger kit and a free float. Find someone who has both a make a deal to try them.
What do you have now, and what are your expectations?

I just got a CZ452(leftie to boot) and love it. Had it for about 3 months and have shot it several times now that the snow has left the range. Fit and finish on mine are sweet and the trigger is adjustable but I have not felt the need as yet. Got a Nikon 4x on it and it is a tack driver. Way better than anything I have ever used or owned. The shop where I bought it has about 5 young guys working along with the owner and they sell most of the major brands. They all own CZ452 or 453. Not one owns a Remmie 22. They sell enough of these that they even stock a leftie on the shelves. That says a lot right there. Either way you can't go too far wrong. Probably both real good rifles and besides-its a 22lr.:)

I own and have owned many 22 cal rifles. None of which would be as High quality as the ones I am looking at. What I want is a lifetime "keeper".

What should my expectations be of a .22 cal rifle package that will run about $1000 . Is that a trick question :D

I would expect it to be very high quality. Action should work flawlessly and smooth, with a nice, crisp trigger. Finish of the barrel and action should be very high quality as should the stock(nice looking quality wood and finish). It should also shoot very well. I am willing to do modifications but not willing to pile a bunch of money into it to get it to shoot.

Another consideration at this point would be a Weatherby MARK XXII.

The Weatherby MkXXII is a rework of an Anschutz 64 (?) action, so if that were an option, the Annies would be worth a look. Picking between them would be on cosmetics. You could get a 54 action Anschutz, though.

O' 'course, a nice Win 52 would be a keeper, that would not go down in value over the years either.

I'd still lean towards the CZ...

Cheers
Trev
