bolt action .22lr that can shoot 22 shorts also

My older BRNO .22 would feed shorts from the clip magazine. I did try it just to see if it would work and it did. But really couldn’t really see the point of using shorts when they cost just as much if not more than LR.

The old Winchester 69A's are stamped Short, Long & Long Rifle.
There will be an old Marlin bolt on my table that I believe shoots the smorgsahbored.

If a 22 Short can be got into the chamber and the bolt closed, it will shoot. Whether it's wise to shoot shorts in a long rifle chamber is another question.

There is a specific chamber for 22 Short.

For shooters who never clean or worry much about accuracy, they may shoot shorts for a long time and not have any problems that they notice. If you have a rifle that's not chambered for 22 Short and it's used primarily for shooting for precision, 22 Shorts should be avoided. They have a risk of leading the leade area because the bullet doesn't reach the rifling when chambered.

Below, the 22 Short and 22 Long Rifle CIP specs.
