Bolt action blowup at Silverdale on weekend?

B.S. rules maybe, but I still have all my didgets....

1 or 2 rounds what does it matter? If a rounds is gonna blow up a rifle its not gonna be that round in the mag that blows. Its only implied so people dont rapid fire and forces them to taked aimed shots, Its only a rule and can and will be broken. Also for the rapid fire they dont want rounds going over the berm which is stupid becuase the range should be templated that theres nothing behind the backstop for max range the biggest gun can fire there.

I loaded 10, 30, 15, 200, 220 etc etc etc rds and I still got all my didgets. Few hammer bite from a Inglis HP, Burn marks from casings comming back, Cut from fixing stopages, Cut from the slide, Cuts from being stupid and putting my fingers in the chamber to fix something and having the slide let go.

You mean you actually fell for that Nova Scotia spelling of digit.

Only time I ever heard the word Didgets, Was on A TV show called Reboot, and one of MEGABYTE henchmen got his fingers crushed and hes was like Ohhhh My Didgets..

Also sounds like the ranges in NS that you goto are ###, Becuase all the ones Ive been to never had the 1 rd loaded rule(Been to many). Only ones that have the 1 rd loaded rule are the DNR free ranges.

I think the whole bunch of you need to start over here. Win/94 is talking about 1 round in the CHAMBER. Some of you are talking about one round in the MAGAZINE. I have no idea what some of you are talking about.

Can we all agree:

1) only one round in the CHAMBER is the best idea,
2) as many rounds in the MAGAZINE as you're allowed, but remember, only one in the CHAMBER,
3) if you try and can't get more than one in the chamber, maybe you'd better check the chamber,
4)if you CAN get more than one in the chamber, you'd BETTER check the chamber,
5)Stop with the "didgets". You're confusing the Newfies, and the chasseurs in Quebec can't find it in the Franglais dictionary.

That's not what *win/64* (not win/94) is talking about Skip. Why then would he make a comment about 'hunting with an assault rifle'?

'He' is a troll, at the very least he is on a Canadian gun board preaching that we need more regulations. A supposed hunter who thinks there is no other reason to shoot. Troll begone

In the name of safety one round at a time? Only an idiot would feel safer with that.

lol wtf is this? I have heard about a few ranges around here that have these rules... I wont shoot there though...

I have a local range that says, one round at at a time, so no rounds in magasins, drop a round and close the bolt, needless to say I have not followed that rule.

Actually if I was to do that with my M305/M14/M1A I risk having an out of battery ignition because of slam fire, semi-auto rifles NEED to strip round out of magasins, it's part of the loading cycle.

From the sound of this story, the shooter was only putting one round in the gun, but seems to have just omitted to notice that one was already loaded in the chamber, come to think of it, had he had the SOP of loading the rounds from the magasin this incident most likely would not have happenned.

Some people seem to be hugely over reacting to an isolated incident.

Think about it, how many times has this happened before? This is the first time for me.

Far more guns are blown up from barrel obstructions than anything like this. Win/64 do you verify the bore of your gun between every shot?

The person obviously neglected to pay enough attention to what he was doing. Whether or not there is one round or a thousand in the rifle accidents can happen if you are not careful. It's called human error and it happens from time to time.

Hey I just had an ideal

Back prior to WW1 enfields had a mag cutoff that stoped troops from using the rounds in their mags untill ordered to do so by an officer (for repelling calvary charges etc...)

they had to single feed rounds over the cutoff for normal trench warfare.

I sugess that we make it manditory that all rifles be fitted with mag cutoffs to prevent someone from accidently doubble feeding.

well everyone east of....... :D

because they seem to like extra safety rules :p

What I have always heard as the reason for the mag cut off was so that the troops could engage in volley fire at extended ranges AND keep the mag full for the possiblity of close encounters where the mags speed of reloading was necessary. Such circumstances would include normal trench warfare. Most Enfields lost the cut off at the same time as they lost the extreme range volley sights.

At every range I've ever been to, it's been strictly one round in the chamber at a time, too :)

Don't think it's actually a RULE per se, we just all find that things work better that way....

This thread rules ;)

Thats right prosper it's not an actual rule per se just something we all abide by.Pistol shooting is different not much chance of a round nose setting of the primer in a pistol.

Preaching! Never said we needed more regulations, just talked about one already in place if that makes me a "troll" so be it.
