I had a Husqvarna 1640 Carbine in .30/06 tweaked for my wife. The LOP was cut to 12" including the Decelerator recoil pad, a length that was slightly short for her if she was shooting on a warm day, but geared up for the cold, it was a good compromise. Usually shooting a rifle with a LOP a bit short is easier than shooting one that's too long. Now I'm 6'3" or so, and thick through the chest and shoulders so I don't need a very long LOP anyway, but I can shoot that rifle with it's XS ghost ring and post sights no problem, but I'm be much less interested in shooting it scoped. I'm not fond of scope cuts. Go to a gun shop, and see what feels right to you. I'd start with a 13" LOP, but depending on you build, you might want a bit less. Check out rifles that have spacer systems for adjusting the LOP. A TC Venture compact might be exactly what you need.
