I was in communication with Ken Farrell and the topic of bolt welding came up. He WILL weld handles on Canadian Bolts and send them back. He charges $54.....

Don't ask, don't tell.

It may be, however, someone has to open your package, check out the parts, fit them in a jig, fire up the tig, cool down, grind smooth and polish, repackage, address and ship. We charge $110/hr. here for welding and 15% for shop supplies. (Wire, gas etc.) I have done dozens of Mauser and Enfield handles and resoldered/tigged some Rems.. but not recently. Mark

I welded a couple of bolt handles-It's not as easy as it looks and I'm not a noob at this.

I think that's a very reasonable price if he can do this right.

spend couple of hundred of dollar at CanadianTire, and get you self a welding kit, cheaper long run, learn to do it yourself.

What about the timing the cams? he must be welding them where they sit. If you are spending the money to get it welded why would you not make sure the timing is correct. You need the action there for that.

You would have to spend some time making Jig for the bolt to sit in, prep is very important, more so then Welding.

I cant weld and dont have the gear... As a buyer, thats the best price.

might be a little expensive to someone who can DIY. but for me.... a $54 deal is almost worth getting it done.

$54 is a steal. Even more so if he refinishes it after.
Timing is not an issue if its a cut and weld. If you are removing the entire old handle and welding a one piece on, expect to pay more.

It's at home and I'm at work ( so no pic ), but... I've got 75% of a ATI do-it-yourself bent bolt kit that someone welded on a Mosin Bolt. No-one was badly injured; but the remnants speak volumes...and they say "Leave the welding of bolts to people who know what they are doing".
IMO; no offense intended of course.
