Bolt hard to close?

I got another bolt for a SA mauser in 7x57 (oberndorf action) I got the bolt body with a "mauser" type handle and no collar or extractor. I put an extractor and collar from a 1908 brazilian mauser on and everthing so far is fine until I put a round in and when I close the action its VERY tight! When I pull bolt back to eject also very tight. Upon examination of cartridge base there are " shiney "scrapes" on the base at the rim edges.
Mt question is : is this a headspace problem? The original bolt was lost.

Do I need another bolt? Its a beautiful piece and I,m building it for the Grandson,which of course I'll have to break in for him....he is only 16 month old!! I'm thinking I'll take it to Eddie Von Antzigen in Peterboro.
I am still very curious why its sticking so badly. JITC
 
The extractor may require some fitting... or headspace adjusted.. have it checked out, it is obviously not something you can fix.

Any time a bolt is switched on any rifle the headspace should be checked.
 
To start off with you are shaw the action and bolt match, two bolt can look very similar but will have critical dimention differences. With the bolt completely stripped down (no extractor, no firing pin etc) how does it feel in the action; too tight, too loss or OK? This is the point you should try a Go/No-go guage. O.K so you do not have the guage, put a live round in the chamber and close the bolt using your finger tips. There should be no felt pressure, if you feel pressure the chamber need reaming deeper (job for a gunsmith). If you feel no pressure its a good chance the problem is with the extractor, and again unless you have experience of fitting extractors this is a job best left to a gunsmith
 
You may have more than a headspace problem if shiny marks are appearing at the base on the "rim edges" ... if it is the edge showing the marks ... most 98's have a little projection from the face of the bolt. The extractor forces the cartridge against this protrusion when the action is closed -- if the action receiver (forward part) provides insufficient room for the extractor the force acting on the cartridge will sometimes cause the marks you see. Also making the bolt manipulation very stiff. You may need to find another extractor for that action...my $.02 (ps as monkeycanada suggests ... trying the bolt without extractor and collar for fit is a good idea to isolate this problem)
