Snake Slayer owners, what do you think of yours?

I got mine a little over a week ago and it's a blast to shoot! Got a .357 barrel as well as the .410/.45 Colt. I'm now looking for a .22 barrel for it.

Anything above midrange Ruger loads is a bit more of a handful than I enjoy, and I tend to love cannons. Bond Arms doesn't recommend the Ruger loads, but I had to try, and felt a fair margin of safety, as the gun also can come chambered in 10mm, which is higher pressure anyway. I think I had difficult extraction, a full grain and half off max of my Power Pistol loads, and they stopped being fun, a grain before that. Got some giant blinding fireballs, though.

I do love the gun, I just don't recommend loading it balls out is all. With reasonable loads, it's a blast. I'm going to stick with the starting loads in the Ruger loadings. It's a downright pussy cat with factory 45lc, but then I think anything would be.

Just remember when loading for smaller bore 10mm/.429" there is a lot more metal around the chamber to handle the higher pressures that a 45 Colt chamber/barrel can't handle...

You really can't compare them.

Very True. BTW I just checked, they don't make a 44 magnum, I'll edit my earlier post. 10mm is the most powerful cartridge, and as you state, that leaves a lot more metal for support. 44 special and 44-40 are the 44 calbres available, both are intended for cowboy style loadings.

If you want some recoil, shoot some 3" .410's in her. They snap good  :runaway:

(E)

I wish I could have, unfortunately the indoor range I was a member at, didn't allow shotshells. I doubt they would be any worse than the missiles I was launching, though.

Are these available in Canada? I didn't think they even made a .22 barrel that would be legal up here???

Could be wrong though, please fill me in :)

Not yet, but it's likely coming, once they see they can sell the 4.25 inchers pretty well up here.

You are correct I checked their web site and they dont make them in 4.25", YET. I sent them an email requesting they make some for us poor Canadians... Maybe if we all email them we'll see some result?:)

Unfortunately I don't believe they care about us up north....that might change if some enterprising CNC company started making barrels up here though....:D

If they didn't, they wouldn't have made the 4.25" models in the first place. Admittedly, it's a slow rollout, starting with the most popular calibers first, but just the existance proves that they care.

California now has the same barrel length restrictions we are saddled with. Most of the 4.2" guns are made for them. We just benefit from it.

Actually, Gordon (Bond) seems to care a great deal about us poor Canucks :) Seems he worked oil patch here and in Texas with a lot of Canadians and knows us well.

I had a great talk with him a few weeks ago and suggested a few more calibers would sell well. Specifically, the 22 lr. seems the issue isn't that he doesn't want to; its that the 22 lr would be too heavy in the barrels and throws the balance off. Now, we might tolerate this but he would have trouble selling enough to make it worthwhile.

One he suggested for we Canadians is a set of barrels with one 22 lr barrel and the other in 410. He thought that would lighten it enough to work well. He even said he might call this setup "the Canadian".
