I'm looking at one of these .45 colt .410 shot pistols from a friend thinning out his collection. Anyone have any experience with these big little guys? He says he has seen one handed skeet shooting from a prone position, or something like that, but i think that may be a little ambitious for me...:shotgun:

They're alot of fun but I think you would be hardpressed to hit a clay with it. The shot pattern is probably 6 feet wide @ 10 feet.

Its a small gun that packs a BIG punch, I'd love one someday.

I owned one before they became quite so common. They are a lot of fun. The LC ammo can be tough to get ahold of if your not in a major centre. She does kick a bit with .410. Depending on what price your friend asks. I say buy her. Worst you can do is sell it and get your money back.

By one-handed-prone-skeet-shooting, does he means he tripped and shot the box holding the birds?:p :D

I have one and they're a blast. Heavy upward trigger pull, easier to do with trigger guard off (IMHO). Definitely gets noticed when I take to the range.
I load 45Colt to cowboy action levels and they're fine recoil wise. The 2½" .410 starts to sting quickly, and I've only managed four 3" shells before my hand said "f**k that s**t".
The 4¼" barrel is only rifled for the last inch, so don't expect much accuracy past 3 yards. It's a derringer, FFS!

(E)

I went to the range with a buddy who has a prohib licence and a .45/.410 derringer. That thing was too painful to shoot. It beat the f@ck out of my knuckle with the .410. .45 Colts were ok though. I would definately consider a revolver style with some nice fat/soft grips though for fun.

Fun Gun!

Pat,
I have one (Snake Slayer) and they are a lot of fun to shoot. I just came back from the range today after trying out some PDX1 .410, (Packs a punch!! ) They are not a target gun but a gun for very close range use........
