I have not had a chance to use the Bone Collector version, I'm afraid. A friend of mine, who is a much smaller build that I am, wanted one for the shorter stock, but they're hard to find in Winnipeg these days, and he hasn't picked one up yet. And there isn't a separate deer tag for muzzle anymore, so he doesn't have the incentive.
The recoil has never bothered me all that much, and I'm a firm believer of avoiding unnecessary recoil in firearms for accuracy sake. The standard stock and recoil pad do their job. Follow up shots do take a little while for me, simply because I find the most accurate sabot/bullet combo for my particular firearm is pretty tight, and takes some effort to load. But with other sabots, I haven't had those issues, and the operation is quick enough. Whether its the first shot or tenth at the range, with Blackhorn I haven't noticed any increased difficulties loading after each shot. It stays clean. I have hunted with the triumph, but so far have never had a shot opportunity with it, so I can only report on how it works in range conditions.
The trigger is good, not great. It was a little gritty out of the box, but that went away after a day at the range. Mine was a tad heavy out of the box. But the important thing is, it's reliable and consistent. I get holes touching at 200 yards. I have a Nikon Omega scope on it, for what that's worth.
For the price, I think it's a fantastic firearm. If you're a smaller build, or more likely to be sensitive to recoil, you would probably want the Bone Collector. But recoil control aside, I don't see it giving you any advantage that would be any difference in the field. If I do my part, the deer will fall every time with the Triumph. Get the standard one, save the extra money from the Bone Collector and get another toy for your kit instead.
