Totally. I took a beat up 14" 870 copy, put on a well used wood forend that I got at the last gun show, and cut down the stock. Barrel was never touched and the OAL is over 26". I may use it a little as a bear gun or something.

That's what it says on the reg cert. Its barrel isn't interchangeable with other 870 barrels though.

I love the 'low tech' look of such cut down 870's - I will get a pic of my 870 up later. - I have one set up with slug bbl and use a limbsaver on it - who knows you might have to give some one an attitude adjustment & the wood stock might come in handy for that - course the limbsaver might give him a 'kindler - gentler' headache lol.

It's not a Remington 870.
In the movie Training Day, Alonzo uses Jake's department issued Mossberg 500 "Cruiser", "The #####" to kill Roger when Jake refuses.
This one:
However Alonzo does use a REM 870 in his girlfriend's apartment to shoot at Jake. That one had a heat shield.
The book of Eli shotgun in the photos above sure looks like a 12.5" barrel to me. A 14" barrel is a bit longer than that yet. The trigger group in the photo above described as David_K's gun (bottom one) is not a Remington trigger group either.
