Well I couldn't resist............and a couple of the operators were quoting in Can dollars..........

Still finalizing details but it looks like late Sept to late Oct, 14-20 days somewhere in there and a very specific list of trophies.

Female lion.......Mr. Fuzzy needs a mate I decided.

Kudu bull 60"......outfitter was running his mouth off, so I pinned him on it and he guaranteed me a 60"+ Kudu....free range as well no fences

Gemsbok bull 40"......same as above......Kalahari hunt for the lion and gemsbok

Mountain Zebra......(Hartman's)

Grysbok.......another of the tiny ten I need and he said they had lots of 'em.

Now I'm contemplating calibers, I can take 2 rifles but I really don't want to...........would love to whack the lion with my double but that would necessitate 2 rifles for sure. Could quite nicely do it all with my 300 Wby, or 340 Wby.

Decisions, decisions decisions................

Given that I have almost every caliber and cartridge known to modern man, what 2 rifles/cartridges would you guys select for this extremely diverse size trophy list. And what single cartridge would you guys select to do it all..........

One thing I am going to be doing is hunting with Matrix bullets regardless of which rifles I choose. Don't know if Marshal's bullets have been to Africa before but I will make a concerted effort to recover and evaluate the performance. Upon my return I shall write it up for all you gentlemen and show as many pics as possible........

Dave, that is exactly my mindset right now..........however, the 9.3X300 is another candidate, as is my unblooded .375 Sako Safari, my .375 Wby, my 378 Wby........250s at 3400 fps and 325s at 2800, that most certainly has potential...........like I said decisions.......decisions.......decisions.....

One thing I will tell you, is that under absolutely no circumstances will it be my .375 Ruger...........:p:p;);):d:d...::dancingbanana::dancingbanana::dancingbanana::dancingbanana:........hey the dancing banana's broken..........

Hey Angus, let me demo that double .375 you're trying to flog. Have you a scope and mounts for it or at least mounts, I can supply the glass.........What's wrong with this picture..........178 firearms and I'm trying to bum a rifle for a hunt........

Before the "are you going to eat it" crowd gets here, let me say congratulations on your opportunity.

Regarding a rifle to take, Doug, why don't you create a splash on here and do it all with a good Winchester 95, in 405 Winchester calibre?
I know you have a good one you could take and I think you could do it all with it's iron sights.
I have one old Winchester factory cartridge that I could get to you, to take as a good luck symbol.

Hey Teddy... I mean Douglas... the .405 would be a cool nostalgic choice... and one that I am CERTAIN you will not choose. Angus' Merkel has already tasted lion blood, that can't be a bad thing! I disremember what exactly your double is??? If you are taking two... you don't really need the .340... that is a ONE gun scenario... I would probably choose a standard bolt in .300 WM and a .375 H&H... the H&H in a double if at all possible (and I can't see why it wouldn't be for you)...

Them's my picks...

My Merkel is a .470 NE, a little excessive for the critter list, but would be fun on the lion.

Think of the symmetry of Angus' Merkel .375 riding a leather case next to your Merkel .470 NE... couple that with you moustache (yeah, I said it again)... you will cut an EPIC figure stepping outta the Rover! Can you picture it? Once you start laying down various head of game, the Masai will start singing songs about you...

Is there a hate and envy app? LOL Would love to go back to Africa.... here's to a good hunt regardless of rifle choice. :)
