With some of the recents posts I was thinking it might be nice to have a list of books about milsurp firearms. Good reference books are a must have for any serious collector. Please add any books not mentioned.

For M1911 and M1911A1 pistols, I suggest the Clawson book. I think it was $45 when I bought it and that included a CD filled with photos of original pistols.

It will provide all the technical details you need to know when buying/selling these popular milsurp pistols. A must for any serious collector.

I recently purchased Carbines of the US Cavalry 1861-1905 and Rifles of the US Army 1861-1906, both by John D McAuley and found both very useful. I'm halfway through US Military Bolt Action Rifles by Bruce Canfield and am really enjoying it, its exhaustive in it's coverage. Arms and Acoutrements of the Mounted Police by Don Klancher is a must for those interested in RCMP weapons. Of course Skennerton's The Lee-Enfield. I found Paul Scarlata's Mannlicher Military Rifles useful, though not on the level of the other texts.

I also have a subscription to Man At Arms For The Gun Collector and save all my copies.

Is Allied Rifle Contracts in America very good? I've strongly cosidered purchasing a copy.

Little out of date by now, but couldn't live without Small Arms of the World. Still a lot of sound information there. World's Submachine Guns is another . Handguns of the World. German Machine guns gives a thorough overview from pre WWl to the present. Got a whole library and looking for more. :D
