Is there a way to store a magazine in this in such a way that it would be considered securely stored without it being in the firearm? Also would the RFID cards be compatible with Hornady RapidSafe cards?

The RFID cards would not work with the Rapidsafe. In regards to the mag it could probably be tweaked to fit to the right hand side inside the unit.
